Is Phelps going to lose everything?!
Posted on February 5th, 2009 6 commentsI was watching the news and I saw that Michael Phelps might just lose everything he has, from his medals to the companies that sponsor him. I was reading into it further and a lot of the details that were said and I feel that a lot of people are against him I feel that he knows what he did wrong , but for something like smoking a bit of pot I feel that the media has crashed hard on him. I would understand if it were a drug to enhance his performance, but to go overboard and take everything that he has gained because of something that many people use day to day and even other famous people have used and have not got into major trouble for smoking pot than why should Phelps go down without a say in anything? I think people should give it more thought; they should do some other type of punishment which does not require such harsh results.

What do you think should happen to Michael Phelps?

Who doesn’t do pot these days… except for me… HAHAHA.
But anyway yeah you’re right, everyone does it, they shouldn’t attack him like that for it. I don’t agree with him doing it, he’s just hurting himself, but w/e. Who cares. Whatever float his boat. Who are we to judge him?
Good post, brianna. -

Due to the fact that Michael Phelps is a well known athlete, as well as a role model to most young athletes(his audience and fans), it is his responsability to maintain a good image for himself.
You said he shouldn’t get in trouble for something most people do on a daily basis, but you, yourself, are 19 and many other people who do it are over 18, therefore they are adults and can make their own decisions. This type of behavior only reflects on his image 100 times worse because he is a role model to young athletes and although it isn’t any drug to enhance his performance(which would be 100 times worse), it is a drug and idealy no one under 18 years of age should be introduced to it. -

Oh & one more thing…
Since he is an adult and that is his decision, he should be able to do w.e he wants but not only is the drug illegal, he should do it in his own privacy; around people he trusts or in a place that he trusts. He owes that to his fans. -

Well it is his decision, but for him to do it again would be very dumb don’t you think?

yeah Lucia, but also rappers and other famous people have really done some whopper things and have not suffered as much. I just want them to go easy on the guy.

I don’t think they should do anything to Michael Phelps. Lots of people do things wrong! && the least you could do is give him a break! he works hard getting all those metals, and taking them away would just be wrong. He was probably stressed out by something that’s going on in his life…i don’t know. but he said he was sorry and that it will NEVER happen again, so let him go on with his life! He’s never done anything to any one else…
